Artists 360 Alumni Join Forces for Arkansas Exhibition

That’s what a group of eight artists discovered in Northwest Arkansas through the Artists 360 program. M-AAA’s Artists 360 program helps artists succeed by teaching entrepreneurial skills, giving one-on-one coaching sessions, and more. These artists took those lessons and fueled their practice, their arts businesses, and their connections in their communities.

Artists 360 alumni Stephanie Payton, Sabine Schmidt, Briseida Ochoa “Brioch”, Sky Maggiore, Christian Gerard, Sophia Ordaz, Tomoko Kashiwagi, and Er-Gene Kahng opted to join forces to create an exhibition featuring their Artists 360 projects. This showcase brings their diverse projects to the forefront, celebrating the impact of the program on their artistic journeys and highlighting the transformative power of Artists 360 beyond its grant period.

Organized independently by the artists, led by the initiative of Stephanie Payton, artist, and Arts On Main ceramics studio manager, the exhibition provides a glimpse into the thriving artistic talent of Northwestern Arkansas and the River Valley. Their exhibition opens January 12 at the Arts On Main gallery located in Van Buren, Arkansas.

The Big Free Picture

Live performance - Cyanotype

The Big Free Picture is a multi-disciplinary portrait of a working-class family swept up in the excitement of Northwest Arkansas’s growth. A humorous, yet complex moment of truth is captured in this unique family photo taken at the local Ramada Inn.

Using photography, storytelling, song, video and performance, this installation wrestles with the nature of living across the tracks from the American dream. Through the deconstruction and reconstruction of the portrait, Rumwolf explores assorted histories and possible futures tied to both his story and to the story of the region. The audience is invited to listen to the score, read the short story behind the family photo, and join the artist in a series of live activations throughout the exhibition.

Free, no tickets required.
The Big Free Picture is organized and curated by Cynthia Post Hunt, Curator of Performance

All Coffee is grown by humans

What is special about Arte + Café is the process. We want to transport them to the origin of the process of the rigorous work of each hand that goes through the crops of the farm, up to the cup of coffee. Through these fascinating and powerful images captured by photographer Jullian Patrick during her visit to the farms in Guatemala. Merging with the realization of the art pieces by the artist Briseida Ochoa "Brioch" using the alternative process of photography called cyanotype giving a touch of coffee extracts from the Guatemalan farms.

Our vision is to show through this exhibition "ALL COFFEE IS GROWN BY  HUMANS" the importance of the process and promote it to our community.

MALETAS MIGRANTES

Maletas Migrantes
